The original Abercrombie and Fitch store was not the fashionable American-styled clothing store which the public link to the brands name today, instead it originated as an elite outfitter of sporting and excursion goods, particularly noted for its expensive shotguns, fishing rods, and tents, founded by David T. Abercrombie and Ezra H. Fitch.

Today, New York is home to one of the largest Abercrombie and Fitch stores in the world of the stores 1045 locations globally, which sells casual wear targeted at 18-22 year olds.

There are stores in countries such as Singapore, The United Kingdom, Japan, Denmark, Italy, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany etc.

The moose is the official logo of Abercrombie and Fitch, and happens to be the symbol of Canada.

Canada:

Moose live on the margins of lakes, muskegs and streams of the boreal forest, on the rocky, wooded hillsides of the western mountain ranges. Moose can be found in Canadian forests from the eastern tip of Newfoundland and Labrador to the border of Alaska. In the wintertime, they occupy forests that have reduced snow levels.

Moose are powerful swimmers, sometimes diving 5.5 metres or more for plants at the bottom of a lake. Swimming in the water is also a way for them to cool off in the summer, as moose suffer from the heat. They do, however, tolerate cold well.

Moose are also moving into areas where they were not previously found, like north-central Ontario and the southern part of British Columbia . In the early 1900s, a few pairs of moose were put on the island of Newfoundland and the populations are now quite large.

Abercrombie opened a store in Ginza, Japan in late 2009, officially bringing the brand to Asia.

Japan:

-         Raw horse meat is a popular dish in Japan.

-         More than 70% of Japan consists of mountains, including more than 200 volcanoes. Mt. Fuji, the tallest mountain in Japan, is an active volcano.

-         There are around 1,500 earthquakes every year in Japan.

-         Average life expectancy in Japan is one of the highest in the world. Japanese people live an average of 4 years longer than Americans.

-         Japan consists of over 6,800 islands.

-         Japan has the second lowest homicide rate in the world, but is also home to the extremely spooky suicide forest, aokigahara.

Abercrombie and Fitch officially opened its first flagship store in Singapore on 15 December 2011. The mega store spans across four levels.

Singapore:

-          Singapore consists only of one main island and 63 other tiny islands. Most of these islands are uninhabited.

-         Singapore is among the 20 smallest countries in the world, with a total land area of only 682.7 square km.

-         The Great Singapore Duck Race, an annual event that raises funds for charity, set a new world record in 2002 when more than 123,000 toy ducks took to the Singapore River.

-         Singapore is the tidiest place in the world. Chewing gum is banned and cannot be purchased in Sinapore.
